Glen Ellyn Newcomers Club: This club is really special part of our community. Founded in the 1950s, the club has become an integral part of living in Glen Ellyn for so many people. Contrary to the name, Newcomers is open to those who have lived in Glen Ellyn for years, and of course new faces as well. Many use the club as their social circle, as the board plans tons of fun activities throughout the year.
Glen Oak Country Club: You won’t find a more family-oriented country club! My kids love the skeet shooting, the amazing pool and swim team, and all of the family events. The outdoor space is so beautiful, and I love grabbing a cocktail with friends by the fire pit. And of course my favorite part, the golf course! I am on the membership committee, so if you have more specific questions, please contact me!
Community holiday celebrations: One of my favorite parts of Glen Ellyn is all of the community-oriented traditions based around holiday celebrations. Every year for Christmas we light the giant evergreen in the downtown square. For Halloween, the kids trick-or-treat at the local shops on a Saturday. To welcome in summer, we host the Taste of Glen Ellyn in May, which is four days of fun and food all around the community. And then at the close of summer, every August we have Sounded in the Streets, which is a great free concert.
Park District amenities: I am always amazed by just how much our Park Districts offer! Every time I think I have it down, there is something new to check out. From a facilities perspective, there are great clay tennis courts, mini golf, a skate park, a splash pad, a Sunset pool, and a few different gyms. Then there is also great programming—amps, skating and hockey, to dance, and pretty much any sports league you can imagine!
Marché: Great spot to catch up with besties over a glass of wine and some cheese. I also love that you can try new wines before buying them. Their cheese boards are so downright artful and impressive for any occasion.
M and Em’s: Perfect spot for a unique gift. Kids, adults, jewelry, fun clothing - one-stop shopping here! Best of all, they wrap your gifts for you!
Fuschia: Make sure you bring a friend with you to this shop, you will want everything! Ashlee Rooney, the owner, has exceptional taste. Looking for a perfect outfit for a special occasion? You will find it at Fuchsia!
Fire & Wine: This restaurant has been one of my favorites since it opened its doors. Consistent quality and great service! Love the grilled romaine, and their linguine and clam sauce when they have it is divine (wink, wink - please add it back to the menu, Chef!).
